FUNCTIONAL TESTING ON FIELD SIGNALS FOR THE MODERNISATION OF RAILWAY LINES IN CROATIA AND ROMANIA
Brief
Perform functional tests to verify the correct integration of new signalling equipment with a SIL4 safety integrity level with pre-existing field boards installed in the operating sections (Croatia and Romania). The signalling instruments must behave in a manner consistent with the configuration on the cards used to manage and control these signals.
Project challenge
To analyse and characterise the signalling instruments and check that the field board is correctly configured and, where necessary, recalibrate the configuration parameters.
Solution
NIER first analysed and characterized the signalling systems on which to perform the tests, in order to be able to model their functional behaviour. The engineering team then proceeded to write and execute the test plan. During execution, the analysis of the consistency of the expected results was of paramount importance, and where discrepancies were found, the modification of configuration parameters in agreement with the client was considered. In a phase following the application of configuration parameter changes, functional correctness was verified by re-executing the test plan.
Execution phases
Analysis of signalling systems
Test plan analysis
Test execution
Verification of the expected result
Where necessary, the configuration was changed and the tests were re-run
Collection and sending of logs and results.
Achieved results
The testing carried out by NIER enabled the client to verify the correct integration of the updated signalling systems with the field boards already present on the operation sections, thus guaranteeing correct operation and integration with the systems present on the section.
