Nuclear
The nuclear sector requires some of the highest levels of engineering rigor, reliability, and process control in the industrial field. The design, evolution, and maintenance of systems and software must meet stringent requirements in terms of safety, traceability, independence, and demonstrability.
NIER operates in the nuclear sector by applying expertise gained in highly reliable safety-critical environments, particularly in the railway domain, adapting it to the regulatory and methodological frameworks specific to the nuclear field. This enables a structured approach to software and system engineering activities, including work on legacy systems through analysis, refactoring, reverse engineering, and functional requalification.
Activities include the development and verification of software for control and supervision systems, reliability and safety analyses, and support for technical documentation and assessment processes, in line with applicable industry standards (IEC 61513, IEC 60880, nuclear I&C standards).
NIER’s approach focuses on predictable and controllable systems, based on clear separation of functions, rigorous change management, and multiple layers of protection. This ensures design consistency and risk reduction throughout the entire system lifecycle.
