NIER is also a private research facility accredited – since 06/02/2012 – as an industrial research and technology transfer facility of Emilia-Romagna under the Regulations for institutional accreditation of industrial research and technology transfer facilities in the Emilia-Romagna region (Annex A to the Decision of the Director General of Productive Commerce for Tourism No. 5199 of 19 May 2010 and subsequent Regional Government Decree No. 762/2014).

Since 2016, NIER has been registered in the special section of the business register as an Innovative SME pursuant to Law 33/2015, Article 4, paragraph 2, and from 2019 is accredited as a Research Laboratory of the High Technology Network of Emilia Romagna. In 2019, the Emilia-Romagna Region approved and financed the investment programme “Advisory 4.0: Innovative Technical-Scientific Services”, presented by NIER in the context of regional establishment and business development agreements – Proclamation 2019 in implementation of Article 6 of Regional Law 14/2014 – ERDF OP 2014-2020, relating to the period 2019-2021.
