SW Testing of the vital operator interface for the management of the railway signalling system
Brief
Define and execute component and integration SW tests on the software used for the vital operator interface (SIL4) for the management of the railway signalling system.
Project challenge
To define, carry out and analyse efficiently, effectively and in a very short time, all the SW tests required by 50128 standards for the BL SW supplied by the client to detect any bugs in a timely manner.
Solution
NIER defined, executed and analysed more than 1000 test cases, including component and integration tests. The IBM RTRT tool was used.
Execution phases
Analysis of the algorithms implemented by the client’s software.
Analysis of the 50128 standard for the definition of the types and methods of software tests to be carried out.
Definition of tests to verify aspects of the standard (code coverage, boundary value, etc.) and requirements.
Execution of tests with analysis of the results.
Identification and discussion with the client regarding bugs found.
Drafting of the necessary documentation.
Achieved results
NIER’s testing enabled the client to detect and correct any anomalies in the supplied SW in a timely manner before moving on to the next stages of the life cycle.
