Energy Diagnosis in the Industrial field for a primary company in the engineering sector

SERVICE MARKET CLIENT World’s leading manufacturer of forklift and lift platform equipment YEAR 2019

Brief

Fulfil the Energy Audit obligation set out in Italian Legislative Decree 102/2014 for Large Enterprises in accordance with Annex 2 of the Decree and the minimum criteria contained in the technical standards UNI CEI EN 16247 parts 1 to 4 and identify possible energy efficiency solutions.

Project challenge

To implement a systematic procedure that provides in-depth knowledge of the energy consumption profile in order to rationalise energy flows and identify new energy-saving technologies, while ensuring compliance with prevailing statutory obligations.

Solution

Energy models were defined, both for electricity and heating, based on plant logistics and order of installation of the individual meters in the existing monitoring system, overcoming the classic approach of classification by type of activity.

Execution phases

FASE 1

Acquisition of generic data relating to:

  • monthly consumption of electricity and gas for the three previous calendar years
  • monitoring system readings
  • hourly electricity consumption curves and monitoring data
  • updated facility floor plans
  • description of energy flows in the company
  • updated list of equipment present and related characteristics.
FASE 2

Detailed technical inspection to survey the existing installations by means of a census of the individual electrical and thermal users.

FASE 3

Electrical and thermal modelling of the plant, and fine-tuning of the models on the basis of actual consumption data, in order to estimate the operational consumption of the various users and subsequently break down the total consumption by intensity of energy use and area.

FASE 4

Calculation of energy performance indicators to assess the energy performance of the production facility and comparison with market benchmarks in the sector.

FASE 5

Identification of possible energy efficiency measures with the estimation of the related savings, their measurement and a quantitative economic evaluation of the measure based on the LCCA.

FASE 6

Drafting of the energy diagnosis report in accordance with CEI UNI EN 16247 parts 1 to 3 and uploading of the documentation on the specific ENEA portal.
